Technical ship management at Geden begins from a position that is structurally different from most third-party managers. Because we manage our own vessels to the same standard and with the same team as third-party vessels, the motivation for quality goes beyond contractual obligation. The standard of a managed vessel is ultimately a product of its crew. Geden operates its own crewing function, with a team that understands – from direct experience – what oil major charter operations demand.
We recruit, train, and retain seafarers who are capable of operating at the level our clients expect. Officer retention is a deliberate priority. The institutional knowledge that builds a safe, efficient vessel does not transfer overnight – and we do not treat it as if it does.

Our approach to newbuilding supervision reflects our broader management philosophy: the commitment of an owner, applied from the first steel cut. We are not a remote review function. We are present, we are specific, and we do not accept a vessel that does not meet the standard we would set for our own fleet.

Geden Ship Management operates a proprietary ERP and Planned Maintenance System, developed and owned internally. This is not a standard industry package – it was built because the standard packages did not meet the operational requirements of a manager committed to an owner’s standard of maintenance and reporting.
The system is currently being extended with AI-assisted capabilities for predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, and performance optimisation. Third-party owners benefit from the same platform, the same data visibility, and the same reporting transparency that we apply to our own vessels.
